This was taken during a previous refueling outage that typically happens every 18-to-24 months at plants across the country. You can tell straight away that this is a boiling water reactor due to the number of assemblies and their checkerboard loading pattern. The shiny squares are the tops of fresh fuel assemblies that are being loaded into the core for the first time.
